Douglas M. Schneider, M.B.A., P.E. A candidate for the Fullerton School District Board of Trustees, Doug Schneider brings a clear understanding of the challenges the District faces now and in the future, which is why he has been endorsed by the Fullerton Teachers Association (FETA) and the California School Employees Association Local 130 in Fullerton. His experience on the Budget Advisory Committee and on the Transportation Committee have prepared Doug to tackle the issues facing this District. At Board meetings for the past three years he has encouraged the Board to develop and adopt policies providing a fair and equitable learning environment for all students, while promoting fiscal responsibility. As a parent and as a volunteer in youth sports, Doug cares about the children in Fullerton. He has a clear understanding of the challenges the District faces now and in the future. Doug will support the teachers and staff in their quest to achieve or exceed performance targets as measured by the California Department of Education’s Academic Performance Index, a ranking of each school’s accountability for both state and federal education requirements. Doug believes teachers should be encouraged to use ingenuity in teaching and children should be inspired to learn and he will work to encourage creativity and innovation in the classroom. |

An Engineering Manager of a utility regulated by the California Public Utilities Commission, Doug understands what it takes to meet code requirements in a fiscally responsible manner. With his experience in budgeting, regulatory compliance, and consensus building, Doug brings a systematic and analytical approach to issues. Doug will use this approach to ensure that the District implements programs that comply with state regulations and can be achieved within the budgetary requirements of the District. The District has recently had several years of deficit spending. As a Board Trustee, Doug will work to eliminate deficit spending, enabling the District to continue providing quality education in the long term. Doug and his wife, Colleen, have lived in Fullerton since 1989. They have two children in the Fullerton School District and are both active volunteers in the schools and the community. Doug believes Fullerton is a community which values quality education and that local elementary schools are integral to this community. His main goal as a Board Trustee will be to support the primary education needs of children so they can succeed in high school and beyond.
