Key Advisor – Colleen Wieghorst
Colleen Wieghorst is a Speech Language Pathologist who has dedicated her professional career to addressing speech language disorders of children between the ages of birth to 5 years old.  She works part time for a private practice in Huntington Beach.  Colleen earned her Master of Arts Degree in Communicative Disorders from California State University, Fullerton, and her Bachelors Degree from Rutgers University. 

Colleen and Doug have been married for 16 years, and have two children, both of whom attend District schools.  Colleen, Doug and the kids discuss the campaign regularly, and it has proven to be a great educational opportunity. 

 Campaign Manager – Joanne Syrja
Joanne Syrja has a Masters from the University of San Francisco in Public Administration with a specialty in Health Services. She consults for medical device companies on issues involving patient access and insurance reimbursement.  She hears with a bionic ear (cochlear implant) and has worked as a patient advocate for people with disabilities.  Joanne's commitment to public education and community service includes serving on advisory committees and the school board when her children were in elementary school.

Joanne is also Doug’s mother, and is very proud to be part of his campaign.

Campaign Treasurer – George Acton
George Acton is a Certified Public Accountant, educated at Loyola University of Chicago. Prior to becoming a CPA he obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Loyola with a major in English Literature.

Before retiring in 2002, he held various financial management positions, including a Controller for a Division of IBM and Financial Vice President for the Victor Calculator Company. He also served as a financial consultant for his own accounting firm and was 50% owner of an Office Products Corporation in the Los Angeles area.

The final twelve (12) years of his full time working career was as Business Manager and Chief Financial Officer of the Westminster Elementary School District in Orange County, California.

George is also Doug’s uncle, and very happy to be part of this campaign.
